Here’s how they work: Your brain is constantly in communication with your two eyes, keeping them aligned and in sync to help you see the world without double vision. If your eyes are misaligned, however, your brain struggles to maintain balance. The disparity between comfortable vision and required vision can cause headaches, eye strain, neck and shoulder pain, dry eye, dizziness, and light sensitivity. Add misalignment to the strenuous demands that computer screens, phones and other digital devices place on your visual system, and you could face daily suffering.
Fortunately, 10 years of research into headaches and their associated visual symptoms has yielded the revolutionary Neurolens. Neurolenses correct the misalignment to restore naturally comfortable vision. Great Lakes Vision Care can provide customized Neurolenses that correct your specific misalignment and give you the most comfortable vision possible in both distance and near. Great Lakes Vision Care is proud to offer this exciting new technology and we’d love to help you discover relief for your symptoms!
Great Lakes Vision Care utilizes a sophisticated instrument called the nMD2. The nMD2 is an objective, accurate and repeatable way to measure eye alignment. The cutting-edge eye tracking system allows the nMD2 to identify eye misalignment as small as 0.1 Prism Diopters, acquiring over 10,000 data points per patient. Coupled with specialized in-office testing, your eye measurements allow us to create a lens that helps with your specific symptoms.
The difference is in the technology and the visual experience. Neurolenses utilize patented, clinically tested technology to correct your misalignment. With the Neurolens contoured prism technology the amount of base in prism increases (or base out decreases) gradually from the top to the bottom of the lens. This allows our doctors to correct binocular misalignment at a distance, intermediate, and near in a single lens. Research shows over 90 percent of patients have a larger misalignment at near than distance. Contoured prism technology can be used in a single vision, progressive, or office progressive lens. There is no lens on the market that offers the same technology.
Most patients notice improvement within a week, although patients with extremely chronic conditions may require four to six weeks to notice an improvement. First-time Neurolens wearers typically report feeling lighter, as if there is less burdens on their heads, necks, shoulders, and eyes. But, as with any new type of lens, you may feel disoriented for about a week as your brain adapts.
